What's distinctive about the data
Most specialty-drug billing references in the market are aggregations of secondary sources — commercial drug compendia, vendor catalogs, prior-year reimbursement claims. CareCost Estimate is assembled from primary sources directly:
- CMS authoritative files at the active quarter: ASP Pricing File, NDC-HCPCS Crosswalk, HCPCS Long Descriptors, Medicare Physician Fee Schedule
- FDA drug labeling sourced from openFDA
- Payer Transparency-in-Coverage Machine-Readable Files published under 45 CFR Part 147 — 42 billion rows ingested, normalized, and de-duplicated against the contract-sample threshold described in our Methodology
- Patient-assistance program data sourced directly from manufacturer and foundation pages, re-validated on a published cadence
- Methodology validated against interviews with practicing billers, coders, and revenue-cycle staff at infusion centers and specialty practices
The source-conflict hierarchy, refresh cadence, and AI-use policy are documented in the Editorial Policy.
